Privacy policy

Last updated

This policy explains what information YarnHook ("we", "us") collects when you visit yarnhook.com (the "site"), how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run a pattern website.

Information we collect

Information you give us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and the content of your message. We use this only to reply to you.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard server logs: your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and the time of your visit. These logs help us keep the site secure and working.

We may use privacy-friendly analytics to count page views and see which patterns are popular. This data is aggregated and is not used to identify you.

Cookies

The site itself does not need cookies to work. If we add analytics, advertising or embedded content (for example, videos) that set cookies, we will update this policy and, where required by law, ask for your consent first. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.

Advertising and affiliate links

Some pages may contain affiliate links to yarn or tools. If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. The retailer, not us, processes your purchase and handles your payment information under its own privacy policy.

If we show ads served by third parties such as Google, those providers may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.

How we use information

  • To run, secure and improve the site
  • To answer your messages and pattern questions
  • To understand which content is useful, in aggregate

We do not sell your personal information.

Sharing

We share information only with service providers that help us run the site (such as hosting and email), when required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our visitors and ourselves.

How long we keep data

We keep emails for as long as needed to answer them and for a reasonable period afterwards. Server logs are kept for a limited time by our hosting provider, typically no longer than 30 days.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict how we use it. To make a request, email hello@yarnhook.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Children

The site is written for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be noted on the home page.
